11 vehicles seized for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in B’la, drivers also arrested: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested 11 persons involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals in Baramulla district besides seizing their vehicles.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the eleven vehicles including a tipper and 10 tractors were seized besides arresting eleven drivers. Police in its statement further said that the driver arrested by it were identified as Gh Mohiuddin Sofi @ Mysar S/o Ab Aziz, Bilal Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohd Yousuf, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Ramzan, all residents of Chakloo, Abdul Rasheed Mir S/o Ghulam Nabi R/o Darpora, Tanveer Ahmad Rather S/o Mohd Afzal R/o Kanispora, Arshid Ahmad Mir S/o Ali Mohd R/o Bangdara Reshipora, Mudasir Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Mohiuddin R/o Babgund, Tanveer Ahmad Tantray S/o Ab Rehman R/o Shirpora Pattan, Shafat Ahmad Allie S/o Mohd Akbar R/o Waripora Payeen, Danish Ahmad Naik S/o Mehraj ud din R/o Check Ferozpora were arrested by several police parties at Chakloo, Delina Ghat, Singhpora Jheel, Nowpora, Waripora Payeen, Shrai areas of Baramulla. Stating that the said drivers were involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals, Police in its statement further said that teams who conducted the operation were assisted by SHO Police Station Tangmarg/ Baramulla/ Kreeri, Incharge Police Post Delina, Wagoora, Mirgund under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPO Pattan/ Tangmarg/ Kreeri.
Police in its statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered in Police Station Baramulla, Pattan, Tangmarg and Kreeri besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/River, as it is the violation of Government rules, issuing a warning therein that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
