Bandipora: The Health Department Bandipora on Thursday organized a day-long awareness workshop on the Intensive Diarrhea Control Programme (IDCP) in the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
The awareness workshop was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel-ul-Rehman, and was attended by ADDC, Mohammad Ashraf Bhatt; Chief Education Officer, Block Medical Officers, Doctors, Paramedics, and other concerned.
The program was aimed to raise awareness to combat and reduce the prevalence of diarrheal diseases in the district through comprehensive health initiatives.
It was reported that in Bandipora, 55,510 children are the targeted population in the age group of 0-5 under IDCP-2024.
The DC was apprised that the Health Department Bandipora has devised a plan of activities to be conducted during the 2-month IDCF campaign, including block-level awareness workshops, distribution of ORS among the targeted population, establishment of ORS and Zinc corners in every health facility, and door-to-door awareness campaigns among other initiatives.
Addressing the participants, the DC emphasized the need for intensive awareness to ensure that every household is equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to prevent and treat this condition effectively.
He urged health authorities to identify hotspots, if any, in the district and provide timely and effective care to those in need.
He also underscored the importance of educating mothers to handle diarrhea cases efficiently.
Speaking on the occasion, ADDC highlighted the need for joint efforts by field functionaries of various concerned departments to implement the programme effectively at the grassroots level.
During the programme, Consultant Pediatrics at District Hospital Bandipora, Dr. Jahangeer Ali Shah deliberated on the management of diarrhea in children under five.
The programme also featured practical demonstrations on essential hygiene practices and ORS preparation to prevent and treat diarrhea effectively.
