Srinagar: A large number of devotees on Thursday attended the celebrations of the annual Urs of ShamasFaqir (RA), a revered Kashmiri Sufi saint, at KalshiporaShamasabad in Khansahib area of Budgam district.
Thousands of people from across the Valley assembled at Shamasabad, where the shrine of ShamasFaqir is located, and held special prayers.
On the occasion, a Mehfil e Sama was organised by Cultural Unit Kashmir, Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) J&K. Prominent folk singers of the valley sang the poetry of the late saint and paid glowing tributes to him.
Artists of KaramBuland Musical Theatre mesmerized the audience while singing the devotional sufikalaam of ShamasFaqeer.
Devotees appreciated Cultural Unit Kashmir for participating in sufi programmes.
