Jammu : The Cyber Cell DPO Jammu, a dedicated unit to combat online frauds and cybercrimes, has successfully recovered ₹80,000 of hard-earned money from a recent fraud case.
A police spokesman said that in a novel scam, a fraudster posing as a police officer contacted a complainant, claiming her son had been caught in a rape case. The fraudster demanded ₹80,000, promising not to file charges if the amount was deposited into a specified bank account. Trusting the caller, the complainant deposited the money, he said.
“Upon receiving the complaint, the Cyber Cell DPO Jammu acted swiftly. Through diligent efforts and advanced investigative techniques, the unit managed to recover the full amount of ₹80,000. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.”
The spokesman said that District Police Jammu, equipped with cutting-edge technology and skilled personnel, continues to lead the fight against cybercriminals, ensuring justice and security for the community.
