Following the tragic bus accident in Akhnoor near Jammu, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, J&K leaders including former Chief Ministers and heads of several political parties expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. President Murmu conveyed her deep sorrow and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured, while Vice President Dhankar also expressed sadness and prayed for the affected families. In a significant gesture, Prime Minister Modi announced an ex-gratia payment of two lakh rupees to the next of kin of each deceased and 50 thousand rupees to the injured, aiming to provide immediate support to the affected families. The Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha expressed his deep anguish on the loss of lives in the tragic bus accident in Akhnoor, Jammu. In a condolence message, the Lt Governor said, “The Bus accident in Akhnoor is heart-rending. I condole the loss of lives and pray to the almighty to give the bereaved families the strength to bear the irreparable loss. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. The administration is providing all possible assistance to the bereaved families and is also extending medical facilities to those who have been injured”.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of the Parliament from Srinagar Dr.Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in a fateful accident at the Chungi Morh area of Akhnoor in Jammu district. Expressing grief over the accident, Dr. Farooq said, “I am pained beyond words to know about the loss of lives in a bus accident in Akhnoor near Jammu. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I wish speedy recovery of the injured. The administration should provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families besides extending medical facilities to those who are injured.” Expressing anguish over the accident, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said, “The tragic bus accident in Akhnoor, Jammu, is heart wrenching. I am deeply moved by the loss of lives in the mishap and pray for fortitude to the grief stricken families. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. I also impress upon the local administration to reach out to the affected with relief and compensation.”
Former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti in a post on “X” formerly called “Twitter” said that ‘terrible news coming in from Akhnoor where 22 people have died in a tragic bus accident. Deepest sympathies & condolences to their families and loved ones,” she said. Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone in a post said that ‘Heartbroken by the tragic bus accident in Akhnoor, Jammu. The loss of 21 precious lives and injuries to 69 others is deeply sorrowful. My heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. In this hour of immense pain, we stand together in solidarity and prayer. May the departed rest in eternal peace and the injured find strength and swift recovery,” he said. Apni Party President, Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari has expressed shock over the tragic road mishap in which 21 pilgrims died, and several others injured at Akhnoor in District Jammu. Altaf Bukhari expressed deep concern over the tragic road mishap that has consumed the lives of 21 pilgrims and injured several others, “I am deeply pained to hear about the heart – breaking road accident that has consumed 21 lives of the pilgrims,” said Altaf Bukhari, expressing his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, who have lost their loved ones in the road accident. He sought immediate release of ex-gratia in favour of the next of kins of the deceased pilgrims. Bukhari said that the injured pilgrims should be provided free of cost specialized treatment by the Govt. Another former Chief Minister and Chairman DPAP Ghulam Nabi Azad also expressed grief over loss of precious lives in Akhnoor road accident. He urged authorities to provide immediate compensation and best treatment to the injured. Besides emphasised upon the government to address overloading and rash driving on accident prone highways. In his message, he said “Deeply saddened by the tragic bus accident in Akhnoor, Jammu that claimed 21 lives and injured 69. My condolences to the families. Urge the government for immediate compensation and best treatment for the injured. Overloading and rash driving must be addressed to prevent such accidents
BJP National General Secretary and In-Charge J&K Tarun Chugh Thursday said that he is saddened over loss of precious lives in Akhnoor road accident. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families, and urged upon authorities to ensure best possible treatment to the injured persons. “My heart is deeply saddened to hear the extremely sad news of the death of passengers from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, in the tragic bus accident that took place in Akhnoor, Jammu. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. Om Shanti Om,” Chugh said in his message. He highlighted the importance of swift action and urged the authorities concerned to ensure the best possible treatment for those injured in the accident. “We are closely monitoring the situation and urge authorities concerned to ensure the best possible treatment to those injured in the incident.” he said.
