Srinagar: Below is the timeline of the major public event held within and outside J&K this week:-


On May 21: A delegation of Godrej Industries Group led by Sh Burjis Godrej, Executive Director, Godrej Agrovet Ltd. met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan. The delegation discussed with the Lt Governor the existing investments and the further expansion of their business ventures in J&K.
On May 21, The Finance Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government announced a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) through Government Order No. 8-F of 2024, effective from January 1, 2024.
Militants last week shot dead a former Sarpanch in the Hurpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, while in a separate incident, a tourist couple was also injured in Anantnag militant attack, police said.
On May 22: The fifth phase of voting for General Elections to 18th LokSabha concluded peacefully here with around 59 % voting in the districts of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Budgam districts partly.
On May 22: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha chaired a review meeting of the Hospitality and Protocol Department. The meeting was attended by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Satish Chandra, Chairman of J&K Real Estate Regulatory Authority (JKRERA); Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary Finance Department; Dr Rashmi Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Hospitality & Protocol and Principal Resident Commissioner; Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary Public Works (R&B); Sh. Achal Sethi, Secretary Law and other senior officers.
On May 23: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha interacted with the youth delegation from Maharashtra, at Raj Bhawan. In his address, the Lt Governor welcomed the Youth who are on a five-day visit to J&K for Yuva Sangam, under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative. He said the initiative aims to strengthen people-to-people connect between youth, including on-campus and off-campus students, of the two regions.
The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (JKPDD) is set to implement a new online payment system for consumers in Smart Metered areas of J&K, aimed at enhancing convenience and efficiency in bill payments.
On May 23: Weather department here on Saturday ruled out any significant weather in Jammu and Kashmir till the end of this month even as it also predicted heatwave to continue for next four days.
Till May 28, generally dry weather is expected but possibility of thundershower activity at isolated places cannot be ruled out. From May 29-31, he said, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/thunder at isolated places towards afternoon.
