Srinagar, May 21: BJP on Tuesday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar against the killing of former Sarpanch in Shopian.

The protest was led by district president Srinagar Ashok Bhat, who accused district administration Shopian of negligence in safeguarding BJP leader and former Sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh who was shot dead by terrorists few days ago.
The protest took place outside the BJP district Srinagar office here in Jawahar Nagar Srinagar. The protestors were demanding a time-bound inquiry into the administration’s failure to prevent this incident.

“The party believes that the administration’s negligence led to the untimely death of Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, and thus the matter needs to be probed in-depth and justice delivered to the victim’s family,” protestors said.

The protestors urged government if immediate action on the matter is not taken, the entire Kashmir Unit will mobilize and march towards Shopian to stage a protest against the district administration.

BJP leader Ashok Bhat speaking at the occasion emphasized the need for stringent measures to ensure the safety of BJP leaders and workers in the region. He called upon the authorities to take swift action and address the security lapses that have put the lives of political activists at risk.
