Kupwara: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal along with Managing Director, State Finance Corporation, Shafat Sultan on Saturday visited Hachimarg, Kupwara and participated in ‘Alumni impact awards’.
These awards are funded by the US government and International Institute of Education (IIE) for the implementation of food security and livelihood projects in the remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, J&K.
In his keynote address, Director Agriculture highlighted the importance of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and the significance of one of its projects namely adoption and promotion of integrated farming systems (IFS)/ Integrated livelihood system(ILS). He also underscored the role of another project known as Alternate agriculture system for sustainability.
He said that the set targets under these projects could be achieved successfully only by raising awareness among the stakeholders. He said that the department is committed to the development of farmers living in the far-off areas of Kashmir division.
Managing Director State Finance Corporation also addressed the program. Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara, Apiculture Development Officer Srinagar and some other senior Officers were also present on the occasion.
