Srinagar: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front ( PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has expressed dismay over the negative electioneering and dirty politics adopted by diferent political parties in fray during the ongoing Lok sabha elections in the country including union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said though main objective of the electoral campaigns of candidates and political parties is to win voter support by unfolding thier manifestives about the well-being of individuals and society as a whole , but , most unfortunately , the election ethics have been totally overtaken by dirty politics , character assassination, and mudslinging .
In a statement issued on Thursday Hakeem while expressing dismay over the negative election campaigns adopted by most of the political parties in fray in the ongoing lok sabha elections , has said that instead of raising basic public issue , parties have resorted to mudslinging against each other , a trend which has no place in a civilised society . He said , perhaps ,it has happened for the first time in the election history that free use of derogatory remarks against each other and dragging ones personal religion and social life in the election campaigns , has over ride the niceties of election campaign.
PDF Chairman said that unlike other parts of the country , Jammu and Kashmir has its own problems ranging from the worst ever unemployment crisis , restoration of its lost identity and protection against onslaught on its cultural ethos adding that political parties in fray in the ongoing parliamentary elections should mainly focus on these core issues rather than resorting to e uncalled for unethical practices. He appealed to both political parties as well as individuals candidates , fighting current lok sabha elections , to rise to the occasion to meet the socio- political aspirations of the people and give voice to their inner feelings . He said morality and humanism was the hallmark of J&K’s rich traditions which need to be upheld at all costs.
