Baramulla: A comprehensive training session to prepare the poll staff for the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 was held on Thursday at Government Degree College, Sopore.
The training aimed to equip approximately 350 poll staff members with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina presided over the programme.
During the two sessions conducted by ADC Sopore, the poll staff received detailed guidance on various aspects of election procedures.
Emphasis was placed on understanding the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs), as well as familiarizing themselves with the collection and installation of polling material.
He underscored the collective responsibility of all poll staff members in upholding the integrity and fairness of the electoral process. He encouraged active engagement with the training material and urged participants to seek clarification on any doubts they may have.
Practical demonstrations of EVM and VVPAT operations were conducted by master trainers from the ADC Office Sopore, providing hands-on experience to the poll staff.
Additionally, discussions on welfare measures for polling staff were held, with directives issued to ensure the implementation of necessary measures well in advance.
