Srinagar: Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Sunday predicted the weather is likely to remain dry till May 11 and temperatures will rise and stay slightly above normal in the coming days in the Kashmir valley.
The day and night temperatures will gradually rise from on Sunday and stay slightly above normal, Director MeT office Mukhtar Ahmad told UNI.
He said, “there will be no effect of the heat wave in Kashmir Valley, which is going on in several parts of the country presently.’
The MeT office forecasts that the weather will generally remain dry with the possibility of afternoon thundershower activity, which can’t be ruled out in a few places until May 10.
There is a possibility of light rain with thunder at a few places on May 11, light rain and snow (over higher reaches) at many places with thunder activity at a few places on May 12, and the weather will turn cloudy with the possibility of light rain at a few places on May 13.
Farmers have been advised to resume farm operations.
The night temperature improved and was recorded above normal during the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday at several weather stations, while the day temperature stayed 1-9 degree Celsius below normal across the Kashmir valley on the previous day.
Srinagar, recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2 degree Celsius on Sunday, and it was 1.5 degree Celsius above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
Pahalgam had a low of 3.7 degree Celsius, Kupwara 7.0 degree Celsius and Gulmarg 3.0 degree Celsius on Sunday, the MeT office said.
