Day-2 in Gurez: DC B’pora reaches far-flung areas of Tehsil Tulail

Bandipora: Continuing his comprehensive tour of the border region of Gurez on Day 2, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeelul Rehman, on Saturday toured remote areas of Tehsil Tulail of Gurez Sub-division.
The tour encompassed visits to various polling stations, health centres and educational institutions, alongside active participation in public interaction sessions and an awareness program under SVEEP.
During public interaction, the DC held extensive and open deliberations with the local populace on various issues concerning public welfare. The issues brought forth included the upgradation of roads, improvements in electricity infrastructure, ration distribution, land acquisition, tourism infrastructure, shortage of manpower in different departments, upgradation of health infrastructure and other matters of public significance.
Assuring swift redressal of concerns and the public issues, the DC instructed concerned officers to prioritize the resolution of genuine public grievances in a time-bound manner.
At Dak Bungalow Dawar, an awareness program under SVEEP was conducted, featuring a spectrum of activities aimed at fostering voter education, awareness and engagement. The event showcased cultural performances reflecting the rich heritage of the region, including traditional Sheena language songs. Additionally, a painting competition underscored the importance of informed decision-making during elections.
In a bid to encourage youth and first-time voters, the DC actively participated in a volleyball match organized under the SVEEP initiative, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to promoting voter awareness and sports.
Addressing the participants, the DC underscored the importance of all eligible voters exercising their democratic right and actively participating in the electoral process. He highlighted how SVEEP activities provide citizens with crucial insights into electoral processes, voting rights, and the significance of their involvement in shaping the democratic framework.
ShakeelulRehman also visited various areas of Tulail, inspecting polling stations and schools to assess the preparedness for the upcoming elections. He directed officials to ensure the availability of all essential facilities at polling stations and also evaluated the functionality of Assured Minimum Facilities.
During his school visits, the DC interacted with students at GMS Zadgay, HSS PTL, and MS Kashpot, and sought feedback on available facilities and academic activities.
Throughout the tour to Tulail region, DC engaged in open deliberations and interactions with the public at multiple stops, including Neru, Badugam, Zadgay, Sheikhpora, PTL, Kashpot and other areas. Additionally, he also inspected the revenue offices and PHCs at Badugam and Sheikhpora.
Accompanying the DC were ACD Mumtaz Ahmad Pir, SDM GurezMukhtar Ahmad, ExEn R&B GurezAashiqMatta, CEO G M Pujoo, CMO Dr. Rafi Ahmed, TehsildarGurez, TehsildarTulail and other officials.
