Srinagar: Below is the timeline of the weeklong key public events held in Jammu & Kashmir and the visits of J&K’s  top functionaries to several places within and  outside Jammu & Kashmr:-

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Ayodhya, paying respects at the Lord Shri Ram Temple, where he prayed for Jammu and Kashmir’s continued progress in development. He also visited Hanuman Garhi Temple, participating in darshan and Aarti.

  • Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, contesting polls from Baramulla Parliamentary constituency, declared zero immovable assets in his nomination affidavit. His main rival, People’s Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone, disclosed immovable assets worth over Rs 19.00 crore. Abdullah’s movable assets have decreased by over 16% in the past decade to Rs 54.45 lakhs, with an annual income exceeding Rs 13 lakh. He stated his marital status as separated, with divorce proceedings pending before the Supreme Court.
  • The Government of Jammu and Kashmir formed a committee to align the budget with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and achieve committed targets by 2030. The committee will identify sectoral gaps and propose interventions through budgetary provisions, ensuring timely completion of related projects.
  • This week, BSF reported that an intruder killed along the International Border (IB) in Samba district might have been sent for reconnaissance and to test troop alertness for potential infiltration attempts, according to BSF Inspector General D K Boora.
  • The Jammu and Kashmir Police introduced an innovative AI-Based Facial Recognition System at Navyuga Tunnel, Banihal, aimed at enhancing security measures, as announced by SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar.
  • On April 30th, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence that Jammu and Kashmir will soon be a normal state, attributing the positive change to development efforts and reduced violence.
  • People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti emphasized that the ongoing Parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir are about addressing injustice, rather than seeking basic amenities.
  • Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq A Rather, visited the Chandanwari base camp site to assess the progress of the 100-bed hospital intended for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2024.
  • A high-level meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, and attended by various officials, discussed arrangements for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2024, focusing on ensuring asmooth and safe pilgrimage experience.

The Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), SadanandVasant Date, convened a meeting at the Police Headquarters in Jammu and engaged in detailed discussions with the Director General of Police J&K, R.R Swain, along with other senior officers. The focus of the interaction centered on reinforcing collaborative efforts in investigations to combat militancy effectively. The officers emphasised the need to dismantle the support structures facilitating nefarious activities and to devise more robust measures to ensure effective investigations
