3 drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act in B’la: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has booked three drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the drug smugglers namely Shahid Hussain Dar S/o Ghulam Hassan R/o Sultanpora Pattan, Mohd Saleem Sheikh @ Mass S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Malikbagh Pattan and Nazaar Ahmad Bhatti S/o Bawar Ali R/o Madiyan Kamalkote Uri have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the said booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Stating that many cases were registered against these drug smugglers for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Uri, Kamalkote, Madiyan, Pattan, Sultanpora& other areas of District, Police in its statement further said that despite their involvement in many FIRs the said accused did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have appreciated its role for its action against drug peddlers. Police also reiterated its commitment to keep society free from drug abuse.
