Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Shampora crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Arbaaz Ahmad Lone S/o Shabir Ahmad lone R/o Qazigund whi;le carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 2.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the said bag from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No 107/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigation, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward or Dial 112 with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police in eradicating the drug menace from the society.
