Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested nine persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla and Kulgam and alsoseized 10 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Devsar in Kulgam district during patrolling at general road Peepora, Pahloo crossing seized two vehicles (tractors) and arrested two drivers involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow, adding therein that the said accused drivers were identified as Zubair Ahmad Rather S/O Hamidullah Rather R/O Sopat, Tengpora and Danish Ahmad Ganie S/O Manzoor Ahmad Ganie R/O Bona Devsar and they were subsequently shifted to Police Station Devsar where they remain in custody.
Stating that in Baramulla district also a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg, Pattan and Kreeri assisted by SHO Police Station Kunzer, Incharge Police Post Palhallan and Incharge Police Post Wagoora seized 8 tractors and arrested 7 drivers at Kunzer, Shrakwara and Dargam area of Baramulla , Police in its statement further said the the said accused were identified as Adil Akbar Rather S/o Mohd Akbar R/o Ogmuna, Mudasir Ahmad Thokar S/o Ab Ahad R/o Chek Khaitangan, Yaseen Ahmad Malik S/o Habibullah Malik R/o Hurchak, Mohd Rafiq Bhat S/o Ab Rehman R/o Pakipora Pattan, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani S/o Ab Khaliq, Umar Salaam Parra S/o Ab Salaam both residents of Tapper Payeen and Mohd Hussain Parray S/o Ab Rahman R/o Goigam involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Police in it’s statement further more said that cases under relevant sections of law were also registered at respective police stations besides initiating investigation. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah/river as it is the violation of Government rules. Police also warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
