3-drug peddlers arrested in Ang, contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Anantnag district and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established near Tulkhan Crossing Sangam intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK03B-1781, adding therein that during search of the vehicle, about 17 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the said vehicle.
Stating that three travelers boarding the vehicle identified as Sajad Ahmad Dass S/o Mohd Sultan Dass, Javid Ahmad Mantoo S/o Wali Mohd Mantoo, both residents of Waghama Bijbehara and Muzaffar Ahmad Sheikh S/o Nazir Ahmad Sheikh R/o Tulkhan Bijbehara were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized, the Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bijbehara besides initiating investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that its consistent actions against menace drug peddlers shall continue as efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
