Udhampur admin celebrates Int’l Women’s day- 2024

Udhampur: Department of Social Welfare Udhampur, in collaboration with District Police and special cell for women, on Wednesday organised a special event to celebrate “International Women’s Day 2024.”
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia was the Chief Guest, while Mallika Sharma Munsiff Udhampur was the guest of honour.
Wing Commander Air Force SonamBakshi, Baljit Singh Additional SP, DSWO Kanika Gupta were among others present on the occasion.
Department of Social Welfare Udhampur under BetiBachaoBetiPadhao Scheme provided Sewing Machine to the beneficiaries including specially abled women and encouraged them to generate the source of income and earn their livelihood.
Earlier, the event started with the Cake cutting ceremony followed by a plethora of cultural activities presented by students of different schools and colleges of the district.
Women entrepreneurs benefited under Umeed scheme also shared their success stories and were felicitated on the occasion.
Different stalls to benefit women were installed by Industries, PoshanAbhiyan and One stop centre for women as well as District Hub for Empowerment of women.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest applauded all the participants for their wonderful performance and highlighted the importance of women in every sector of the economy.
In the last leg of the program, all the participants were appreciated by Mementos. The GDC Ramnagar and GGHSS Udhampur were handed over the Sanitary Napkin vending machine and Incinerator machine under BetiBachaoBetiPadhao by the Department of Social Welfare Udhampur.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare inaugurated a short term skill development program in Parisha and Palaash (Child care institutes for girls and boys, Udhampur), which started with a drawing competition for the inmates.
Director SBI RSETI handed over Momentos and drawing kits to all the students in presence of DSWO Kanika Gupta and Lead District Manager Udhampur.
Similarly, Department of Social Welfare, Udhampur also celebrated INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2024′ in collaboration with Department of Youth Services and Sports at Subash Stadium, Udhampur.
On the occasion, around 100 students including Girls and boys participated in different sport activities like badminton, handball, cricket and table tennis to promote passion of sports activity among females. Certificate of participation were given by District Social welfare office, Udhampur to all the participants
