Shopian: An awareness programme on BetiBachao, BetiPadhao (BBBP) was on Tuesday conducted by the Department of Health Shopian in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women at ANMT College Shopian.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Shopian, Dr. ArshidHussain was the chief guest on the occasion.
On the occasion, BMO Shopian raised awareness among the audience about various legislations including PCPNDT Act and POCSO Act, and stressed upon education of girl child, gender equality and child rights.
Clinical Psychologist, Ishrat conducted an insightful session addressing various aspects of mental health. DrJavid, Gynecologist imparted awareness on menstrual health and hygiene practices, and dispelled taboos associated with menstruation.
District Mission Coordinator DHEW Shopian raised awareness regarding working and functioning of the District Hub for Empowerment of Women and made participants aware about all the women empowerment schemes available at District level.
The programme was attended by officials of health department DHEW, Asha workers and students of the college.
