Jammu : Four travelers were on Monday killed and three others injured as the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off a road in Ramban district of Jammu province. Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinhaon has condoled the loss of lives in the tragic road accident and announced exgratia relief to the families of victims and assistance to the injured ones.
Reports said that a sumo vehicle on way from Maligam to Ukhrall skidded off the road near Maligam due to slippery conditions, resulting in on spot death of four travelers and injuries to three others.
A rescue operation was immediately initiated by police with the help of locals, during which the bodies were recovered and the injured ones evacuated to PHC Ukhral for immediate treatment. The deceased have been identified as Abdul Wahid Bali, Anaytullah, Mohammad Ayoub Bali, and driver Sajjad Ahmad—all residents of Pogal. Police officials said that a case has been registered in this connections and further investigations have been also initiated.
Meanwhile Lt Governor Manoj Sinha while condoling the deaths of travelers said “I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of precious lives in an unfortunate road accident in Ramban on Monday. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of those injured”. The Lt Governor also announced ex-gratia for the victims of Ramban road accident and those who had lost their lives in a tragic landslide in Reasi on Sunday. An ex-gratia of Rs.5 Lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs.50,000.
