Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested four gamblers in district Ganderbal and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs about gambling activities in the orchards of village Serch Bala, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Ganderbal under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided the specific spot and apprehended four gamblers identified as Javid Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Qadir Sheikh and Mehraj Ud Din Shoda S/o Ghulam Mohammad Shoda both residents of Badergund, Arbaz Ahmad Dar S/o Bashir Ahmad Dar & Mehraj Din Bhat S/o Mohammad Amin Bhat both residents of Shahpora , adding therein that stake money of Rs 6500 and playing cards were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who were later shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 32/2024, under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Ganderbal besides which further investigation into the case was also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Police in it’s statement also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
