Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four gamblers in Ganderbal district and also seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs about gambling activities on a link road at Barkati Mohalla Safapora-Hakbara, a Police party of Police Station Safapora headed by SHO Police Station Safapora under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal raided the specific spot and apprehended four gamblers and recovered stake money of 5800/- and playing cards from their possession.
Stating that the accused have been identified as Hilal Ahmad MallaS/o Ali Mohd Malla R/o Chandergair, Sajad Ahmad Sagoo S/o Ab Rehman Sagoo R/o Hakbara, Mohd Ramzan Fafoo S/o Bashir Ahmad Fafoo R/o Hakbara and Gh Qadir Shairgojree S/o Noor Mohd Shairgojree R/O Hakbara, Police in it’s statement further said that cases have been registered under FIR No. 04/2024, under relevant sections of law at Police Station Safapora besides which further investigation into the case has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
