Kishtwar: District Red Cross Society Kishtwar has opened a fully equipped allopathic dispensary in Bhatkoot Village ShandriPanchayat marking a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in the remotest village and to serve the community with a wide range of medical services.
The facility has come in pursuance to the plan of opening one dispensary in each district of Jammu and Kashmir by Indian Red Cross Society, J&K under the leadership of Lt. Governor, ManojSinha, President IRCS, J&K and the supervision of K RohitKhajuria, its General Secretary.
The newly established dispensary aims to address the healthcare needs of the local population by providing accessible and free medical care. Equipped with medical facilities, experienced medical staff, and a commitment to community well-being, the dispensary offers a range of services, including OPD, routine check-ups, vaccinations, institutional delivery and preventive care to ensure the overall health of the community.
The medical facility will put an end to the arduous 8 to 10 km journey on foot that local women and children had to undertake for basic medical needs. Prompt and efficient emergency medical services for urgent healthcare needs are also being provided. Furthermore, Red Cross Kishtwar will provide Jan Aushadhi medicines procured through CMO, adding value to the healthcare services.
The DRCS Kishtwar did its first institutional delivery in its dispensary in BhatkootKuntwara on 19th February, 2024.
Indian Red Cross acknowledges the collaborative efforts of the Deputy Commissioner, local community and government bodies who have contributed to the realization of this vital healthcare initiative. The dispensary is expected to positively impact the health and well-being of the people in Kishtwar and the surrounding areas. Similar initiative is expected from other districts of J&K as well.
