NMBA: GDC Khansahib conducts door-to-door Awareness campaign

Budgam: The NSS volunteers of Government Degree College (GDC) Khansahibon Saturday conducted a door-to-door awareness campaign under ‘NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ (NMBA) at different villages of tehsil Khansahib viz. Kremshore, ChakShera, Kachwari, Raiyar, Lanoora, Bugroo, Draygam, etc to raise awareness about drug abuse and its consequences.
The campaign was launched under the patronage of Principal, GDC Khansahib, Dr. NargisBano.
A well drafted open ended questionnaire was provided to the volunteers prior to the campaign.
It was found that people were generally reluctant to share information on substance misuse due to social stigma, but volunteers were successful in interacting with some drug addicts who gave different reasons for addiction ranging from peer pressure, breakdown in relationships, lack of entertainment and misuse of social media etc.
The dependent population was familiarized with drug de-addiction centres and helpline facilities. The parents were requested to de-stress their wards and spend time with them so that the latter can freely express themselves and share their feelings.
