Agriculture Deptt observes Vishawkarma Day

Jammu:  Department of Agriculture, Jammu observed Vishawkarma Day here at Government Agriculture Workshop, Jammu.

Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Hari Krishan Razdan, was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the workers, employees and officers, Razdan said the department is getting a very good response from the farmers regarding results of different Agriculture Machinery like Paddy Transplanters, Seed-cum –Fertilizer Drills, Reaper-cum-Binders, Power, Weeders, and Diesel Hill Ploughs being popularized under different Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). He said Agriculture Mechanization is one of the key interventions aimed at doubling the income of farmers within a short span of 4 years i.e. by 2022. He further said Agriculture Engineering Workshop is playing an important role in manufacturing and supplying different tools and implements for the use of farmers.

Vishawkarma Day Celebrations were also held at Seed Processing Unit, Seed Multiplication Farms of the department located at Chinore and Chakrohi by the workers and staff of these units. Bhagwan Vishawkarma is believed to be the architect and originator of machines and tools.  Worship of tools and machines was held after special prayers for safety of the operators and workers followed by distribution of Prasad.

Later, the director along with team of officers had a round of Government Agriculture Workshop where different machines like Sheet Cutting Machine, Sheet Bending Machine, Beading Machine, Power Hammers, Sheet Rolling Machines etc. have been installed to manufacture tools and Grain Storage Bins.   Razdan also attended the Vishavkarma Day Prayers at Seed Processing Unit where cleaning, grading and bagging of different seeds is being done by different machines.

Also present on the occasion were Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) K. S. Sambyal, Agriculture Research Engineer M. A. Khateeb, Deputy Director (Trainings) Sunil Koul, Deputy Director (Central) C. M. Sharma, DSCO, Jammu K. K. Gupta and other officers.
