DC Shopian reviews functioning of Agriculture, allied Deptts

Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb on Tuesday convened a meeting to review the working of Agriculture and other allied departments in a meeting with concerned district officers of these departments in the district.
On the occasion, the DC reviewed the implementation status and progress of various flagship schemes and development works being undertaken in Agriculture and allied sectors.
The chair was apprised by the officers of concerned departments about the ongoing activities and progress thereof.
While reviewing the sector-wise performance of agriculture, horticulture, Animal, Sheep, Fisheries, etc the DC called upon officers to create more awareness among the masses about the different income generating schemes and modernization initiatives by organizing camps.
He emphasised for quick and time bound registration of farmers and families so that all schemes are saturated and benefits designed for the farming community are extended to them.
He also impressed upon the officers to improve the outreach in the field and achieve set outcomes under all schemes so that benefits of development reach to the masses.
The DC stressed on promotion of organic, integrated farming and popularisation of animal, sheep and fish rearing for diversifying the economy, adding that the need of the hour is to increase farmers income by such interventions.
The meeting was attended by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Director, Fisheries, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Area Marketing Officer, and other concerned.
