DC reviews implementation of ICDS services in Doda Distt

Doda : Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh on Saturday reviewed implementation of the ICDS sector services comprising nutritional support system, health services, immunization, and non formal pre-school education to children in age group 0 to 6-years here at a meeting held in the DC office complex.
The Services are provided under the umbrella of Mission POSHAN.
The review meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, DPO ICDS, and Child Development Project Officers of all 8 Poshan Projects of the district.
The meeting primarily discussed the ICDS operations, including the functioning of Anganwadi Centers, and assessed the gaps in the services delivery.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the CDPOs of 8 ICDS projects to visit their Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) on regular intervals to assess working. He emphasised the need for seamless coordination among the AWWs, ASHA workers, Lumberdars, Chowkidars and other fields functionaries to enhance the effectiveness of services to the targeted children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women.
DPO ICDS Paramjeet Singh apprised Deputy Commissioner that 1401 sanctioned Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), and 1396 AWCs are operational in the district catering to the 30589 identified beneficiaries. To meet out the staff deficiencies, Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers have been engaged recently he added.
DC reviewed PMMVY, ADHAAR seeding, DBT, achievements under developmental deliverables by ICDS sector and other such parameters of Mission POSHAN.
He emphasised the need to prioritise the welfare of the impoverished and marginalised sections residing in the remote corners of the district. He reteriated that strong willingness of the officers and officials of ICDS Department is must to eradicate malnutrition, hanger and to implement the non formal pre-school education and necessary immunization of children between age 0 to 6 years in the district.
