Srinagar : A well-coordinated security arrangements have been put in place in Srinagar and other districts to conduct peaceful and smooth Republic Day functions in the Kashmir valley, Inspector General of Police V K Birdi said on Wednesday.
He said police have coordinated with other forces for smooth Republic Day functions.
“Security arrangements are well in place in Srinagar and adjoining districts for Republic Day celebrations all across the Kashmir valley,” Birdi told media on the sidelines of a full-dress rehearsal held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
“We have coordinated with other forces also. …The security grid is vigilant and active,” he added.
In reply to a question regarding any ban on the internet or any moment of people, IGP Kashmir said, “As such, I know there would be no such kind of situation.”
He said everyone is invited to come freely to take part in Republic Day celebrations.
“The security arrangements are very strong, and guidelines have been issued that the common people who would come to participate in the Republic Day celebrations should not face any hindrance to reach smoothly to the venue to become a part of it,” he said.
Birdi said Jammu and Kashmir police are monitoring the situation and pinning down any culprits who want to disturb the peace.
Security has been beefed up in Kashmir ahead of Republic Day to ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations in the valley.
