In a Landmark verdict Handwara Court Convicts 9 accused in 2009 murder case

Srinagar : In a pivotal moment for justice, the Court of Additional Sessions Judge in Handwara pronounced a significant judgment on Thursday in a murder case related to FIR No. 128/2009 under sections 147, 149, 323, 302 RPC of PS Handwara. The judgment resulted in the conviction of nine accused persons, underscoring the steadfast commitment to justice and the rule of law.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the life imprisonment has been awarded to the accused persons namely Bashir Ahmad Mir S/o Gani Mir, Habibullah Mir S/o Gani Mir, Manzoor Beigh S/o Hamza Beigh, all residents of Wadder Bala Handwara. Besides, the three years imprisonment on charges of offenses under 147, 148, 323, 302 RPC has been awarded to Mst Raja W/o Manzur Beigh and Mst Fehmeda W/o Habib Mir, both residents of Waddar Bala Handwara. Moreover, the two year’s imprisonment on charges of offenses under 147, 149, 323 RPC has been awarded to Gh Rasool Mir S/o Gani Mir, Habib Beigh R/o Hamza Beigh, Mohd Afzal Beigh S/o Manzur Ahmad Beigh and Mst Mala W/o Ghulam Rasool Mir, all residents of Waddar Bala Handwara. The deceased accused Hamza Beigh S/o Sultan Beigh has posthumously been charged with offenses under Section 147, 149 of the RPC.
Stating that this landmark verdict is the culmination of an exhaustive and meticulous investigation conducted by the Investigating Officer, coupled with adherence to due legal processes. The conviction underscores the unwavering commitment of the judiciary and law enforcement to ensuring that justice is served. The accused individuals were found guilty of offenses including rioting, unlawful assembly, causing hurt and the grave charge of murder under the RPC.
Police in its statement said that the Court recognizes the edication of the Investigating Officer and the collaborative efforts of all involved in the legal process. This verdict serves as a testament to our commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that those responsible for criminal acts are held accountable.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police extended its gratitude to the people for their cooperation and said that this verdict reaffirms that justice, fairness and accountability are paramount values upheld by the judicial system.
