Kishtwar : Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav took a significant step towards fostering effective governance in education by orchestrating the establishment of School Management Committees for Government Higher Secondary School Badhat and MS Badhat.
The pivotal meeting brought together parents and teachers, marking a crucial milestone in advancing the educational framework in these institutions.
Under the meticulous guidance of the Deputy Commissioner, alongside the presence of Dy. CEO, Masood Hussain Qazi, local PRIs, parents, staff and HOIs of these schools, members of India Education Collective- NGO, the formation of fresh School Management Committees was facilitated.
The newly formed committees, comprising 15-17 members, saw the unanimous selection of Chairman and Vice Chairman from among the parents with one chair reserved for females in the committee.
Additionally, the HOIs were appointed as member Secretaries, while the remaining members were selected from parents, including PRIs and teachers of the respective institutions.
During the committee’s formation, the Deputy Commissioner enlightened the attendees about the pivotal roles and responsibilities entrusted to the committee. These encompass facilitating unhindered functioning of educational institutions, aligning with smooth execution of development initiatives, monitoring the school’s operations, and overseeing the preparation, recommendation, implementation, and monitoring of the School Development Plan (SDP).
Furthermore, the School Management Committee is tasked with bridging communication gaps within the community. They will disseminate information creatively regarding children’s rights as outlined in the Act, outlining the duties of appropriate government bodies, local authorities, schools, parents, and guardians.
Additionally, the committee will focus on reducing the dropout rate among girls at the secondary stage through positive interventions, ensuring teacher attendance regularity and punctuality, promoting regular teacher-parent meetings to discuss students’ progress, learning abilities, and relevant child-related information.
This initiative underscores the commitment of the District Administration towards enhancing the educational ecosystem by ensuring active community participation and holistic development in educational institutions.
DC on the occasion conveyed best wishes to India Education Collective, an NGO set to collaborate with the Administration and School Education Department to activate SMCs across all school clusters.
