Geelani concerned over human rights violations

Srinagar: Chairman all parties Huriyat conference, Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday said that people pursuing right to self-determination are facing worst type of state sponsored terrorism. Expressing his deep concern over human rights violations, Geelani said that unabated killings and brutalities are worst form of state terrorism.
Geelani in his appeal to UN General secretary and international organisations for human rights urged to take cognizance of rights violations and added that people in state are worst sufferers.
Pro-freedom leader said that it is unwise and undemocratic to affix movements pursuing right to self-determination with terrorism and stressed civilised world to dislike and resent every form of terrorism.
Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep grief and concern over the loss of precious lives in Islam Abad, Tral and Bijbahara, during past few days saying that killing on political differences is sheer violation of human and moral values and terming it very sad, added that it should never happen.
Appealing people to maintain discipline and avoid confusion and disorder, Geelani said during the campaign against braid choppers it is appropriate that we should not take any step which may provoke state forces for retribution and carry out violent means against the people.
Reiterating TRC Chalo call on October 14, Geelani appealed to make event a big success and asked people to demonstrate their political power and send a message to global assemblies while raising high pitched slogans in favour of right to self-determination, for which oppressed people offered immense sacrifices.
Geelani while lashing at Tihar jail authorities for their inhuman behavior against those arrested by NIA, including Hurriyat leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saif u ullah, Raja Meraj-u-Din Kalwal, Nayem Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Aslam Wani, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Zahoor Ahmed, Javed Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed, journalist Kamran Yousuf and warned authorities, saying if any untoward happens to them, the local puppet rulers shall have to face consequences.
Geelani urged human rights organizations and Amnesty International to look into the serious matter, do everything possible to save the lives of these prisoners, saying, denying basic facilities like medical treatment was the worst violation of the basic rights specified for the prisoners and added that these detained leaders while facing worst character assassination campaign would emerge as victorious and innocents.
