Vigilance Awareness Week 2023: Promoting a Corruption-Free J&K being celebrated at KU North Campus

Baramulla: In a concerted effort to combat corruption and promote transparency in the region, the NSS Wing of North Campus University of Kashmir, in collaboration with the District Administration of Baramulla, celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week 2023. The event, held on November 3, 2023, aimed to spread awareness and advocate for a “Corruption-Free J&K.” Under the guidance of the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nilofer Khan, the program unfolded with an impressive display of unity and commitment against corruption.
In a statement issued here on Friday the University said that it’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan has been a vocal advocate for a corruption-free society from day of her assuming office , adding there that leadership and dedication of the Vice Chancellor to this cause served as a driving force behind organising the Vigilance Awareness Week Celebration.
The event commenced with Bilal Ahmad Kaloo, the Programme Officer NSS, providing a brief introduction to vigilance awareness and the significance of promoting corruption-free practices in institutions. This set the stage for an insightful and educational day ahead.
Subsequently Prof. Bashir Ahmad Ganie, Director North Campus KU, highlighted on the gravity of corruption as a prevailing challenge in society. He administered a pledge aimed at fostering a commitment to corruption-free practices within organizations. Emphasizing the importance of integrity and ethical conduct, Prof. Ganie called for the adoption of healthy practices to eradicate corruption from all levels of society.
The event’s keynote speaker, Dr. Towseef Amin Rafeeqi, Research Officer at the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) in Srinagar, added depth and perspective to the discussions. Dr. Rafeeqi’s presentation focused on Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers (PIDPI), elucidating the process in great detail. His insightful talk provided the audience with a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms in place to protect and promote transparency in public affairs.
One of the standout moments of the day was a walkathon involving NSS volunteers and students from the North Campus. Carrying placards displaying anti-corruption slogans, the participants marched with determination and zeal, symbolizing their commitment to the cause. This visual display of unity against corruption reinforced the message that the fight against corruption is a collective effort.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. MaleehaGul, the Programme Officer of NSS Dr. Gul. She reiterated that Vigilance Awareness Week 2023 was not just a symbolic event but a concrete step towards building a more accountable and corruption-free Jammu and Kashmir. It showcased the commitment of the academic community, local administration, and the youth in fighting this pervasive issue that hampers progress and development.
