Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, IUST hosts Para Athletic Meet

Awantipora : The Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, Islamic University of Science & Technology organized a Para Athletic Meet, here on Tuesday which was presided over by Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST. The event, held at IUST’s Synthetic Athletic Track showcased remarkable abilities and talents of para-athletes from across the valley.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office IUST here, the Para Athletic Meet, featured a diverse range of events including wheelchair racing, shot put, long jump, and Relay Races; and was aimed at promoting inclusivity and fostering a spirit of athleticism among specially -abled individuals.
Prof. Romshoo, commended Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, IUST for organizing the event and appreciated the participants for their commitment and resilience. He said that nothing conquers a strong will and their dedication was source of inspiration for others to engage in productive and healthy activities. He said that sports ensure overall wellbeing and promote bonhomie and cordiality.
Prof NaseerIqbal (Registrar IUST), Mr Samir Wazir (Finance Officer and Chairman Sports Committee IUST), Dr Waseem Bari (Controller of Examination), Prof. MasoodaYaseen (Honorary Secretary Voluntary Medicare Society), and Dr Bashir Ahmed Lone among others were present on the occasion.
Earlier Dr Hilal Ahmad Rather Assistant Director Physical Education & Sports welcomed the guests and thanked organizing committee for successful conduct of the event. The programme was organised with the support of Voluntary Medicare Society Srinagar Kashmir.
