Police Flag Day Week-2023: Police organises series of events across the valley

Srinagar : In a heartfelt tribute to our fallen heroes and a resounding salute to the valiant police martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the motherland, Police facilitated meeting with NOK’s of Police Martyrs at DPL Srinagar and also organised events in various districts.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters,in Srinagar, an interaction meeting with the next of kins of police martyrs was held under the supervision of SSP Srinagar Ashish Kumar Mishra at DPL Srinagar. DySP DAR DPL Srinagar Nisar Ahmad Khoja and Dy SP Headquarters Srinagar Syed Sleet Shah were present on the occasion. While interacting with the NOKs of Police martyrs, SSP Srinagar assured enduring support and co-operation from the J&K Police. Moreover, SSP Srinagar paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives valiantly in the service of the Nation. During the meeting, chairing officer keenly heard the grievances and assured the NOKs for quick disposal of the grievances. All the participants were served with refreshment on the occasion.
Moreover, Srinagar Police also organized an “Essay Competition” at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Amira Kadal. Around 40 students from different schools of the district, viz, Girls HSS Amira Kadal, Girls HSS Rajbagh and Girls HSS Chanapora participated in the essay competition with immense zeal. The event was inaugurated by SP City South Gaurav Sikarwar, SDPO Shaheedgunj and SHO PS Shergari. Besides, Principal Girls HSS AmiraKadal along with staff members, including senior lecturers of other schools were also present on the occasion. SP City South Srinagar, while speaking on the occasion, praised the participants for their participation in order to show their exemplary talent, adding that Police is committed to provide well-intended platform and suitable opportunities to talented students in various fields to showcase their talent and merit. The top seven position holders were awarded with suitable cash prizes. Moreover, participation certificates were also distributed among all the participants.
Meanwhile in Bandipora, Police honoured the special achievers among the NOKs/ siblings of Police Martyrs at DPL Bandipora. SSP BandiporaLakshay Sharma accompanied by DYPS Hqrs Bandipora Shafat Mohamad were present on the occasion. During the event, SSP Bandipora presented gifts, appreciation certificates to the participants for their outstanding performance in academic and other fields besides, assured full support and cooperation to NOKs of Police Martyrs. Moreover, police band shows were also held at prominent public places of the district. Band shows were performed by police band team of District Police Bandipora& the people watched the show with great enthusiasm.
In Pulwama, Police organized a debate competition at Government Degree College (Boys) Pulwama. Nineteen bright students from 02 government degree colleges of Pulwama participated in this competition, passionately delving into the topic, “Role of Police in Nation Building.” Each participant eloquently illuminated the invaluable contributions of our police force to maintain law and order and to safeguard our nation’s unity and integrity. DySP DAR in his inspiring address called upon the students and participants to carry forward the torch of patriotism and actively contribute to the nation’s development and prosperity. The event was graced by notable figures, including Prof. Gh. MohdNengroo, Incharge Principal and HOD Chemistry, Prof. Muneer Hussain Azad, Assistant Professor of English, Prof. Tanveer Ahmad Zoi, Assistant Professor of Sociology, and Dr. Tanveer HussainI too, Assistant Professor of English, all from the Government Degree College Pulwama. Around 70-80 students from GDC Pulwama were in attendance, soaking in the wisdom shared during this engaging debate. To recognize the students’ enthusiasm and articulate presentations, cash prizes and certificates of participation were awarded. The top three awards were rightfully claimed by Sheikh Atoofa, Mosin Nazir of GDC Pulwama, and Asiya of GDC Women Pulwama, showcasing their dedication to the topic and to our beloved nation’s betterment.
In Baramulla, Police organized run for unity & exhibition of martyr’s photo gallery at various schools in Baramulla. At Tangmarg, run for unity was organized in which school children participated and were attended by SDPO Tangmarg alongwith SHO PS Tangmarg. The winners and runners we’re also felicitated with awards. Moreover, exhibition of martyr’s photo gallery was displayed in different schools in Mirgund, Chandoosa, Kreeri, Delina, Wagoora&Bijhama where martyrs have studied.
In Awantipora, Police organised series of programmes including cultural event at DPL, Debate competition at Pampore, concluding function of Police Martyrs Memorial Sports events and felicitation to special achievers among kids of Police Martyrs at DPL. At DPL Awantipora special achievers among kids of Police Martyrs were felicitated by SSP AwantiporaAjaz Ahmed Zargar. During the programme, gifts/appreciation certificates were presented to them as a token of love and encouragement. A debate competition was also organised at Government Degree Collage Pampore in which various students participated. The theme of debate Competition was “The role of Police in Nation Building”. The sports events Volley ball and Badminton which were inaugurated by SSP Awantipora on 21st October 2023 on Police Commemoration Day also concluded on 30th October 2023. In a closing presentation, SSP Awantipora along with SP DAR felicitated the winner/Runner-up teams with trophies and appreciation certificates. SSP Awantipora while interacting with players, respectable congratulated the winners/runners-up teams and expressed that J&K Police is committed to give boost to the sports and to channelize youth energy in positive manner. SSP Awantipora thanked the players, spectators and the people who witnessed the event and made the event successful.
