Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested Eleven (11) persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals case in Baramulla and seized Twelve (12) vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police parties under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Baramulla and SDPO Pattan assisted by SHO Police Station Baramulla, Pattan and Incharge Police Post Delina seized Twelve (12) vehicles (7 tippers, 4 tractors, 1 excavator) and arrested Eleven (11) persons (Drivers) identified as Riyaz Ahmad Mir S/O Mohd Yousuf Mir, Javaid Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Mohd Bhat, Khursheed Ahmad Dar S/O Ghulam Nabi Dar, Mohd Amin Mir S/O Mohd Maqbool Mir, all residents of Ghat Delina, Riyaz Ahmad Ganaie S/O Mohd Subhan Ganaie R/O Zehanpora, Mohd Irfan Malik S/O Mohd Amin R/O Drangbal, Irshad Ahmad Dar S/O Noor Mohd Dar R/o Jalsheeri Baramulla, Imran Bashir S/o Bashir Ahmad Malik R/O Drangbal, Mehraj Din Sofi S/O Gh Hassan R/O Chijhama Rafiabad, Nadeem Ahmad Mir S/O Ali Mohammad Mir R/O Soipora Magam and Akhtar Ali Malik S/O Gh Hassan Malik R/O Soipora Magam involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ghat Delina, Chakloo and Khanpeth, besides which the one accused driver fled away from the spot and efforts are on to nab him.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated further investigation, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
