Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora arrested a drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmad Wagay S/o Abdul Satar Wagay R/o Udipora Shahura Tehsil Litter at Panzgam Crossing and shifted him to police station where he remains in custody, besides which during search, 8 Kgs of Bung Chura was recovered from his possession.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 203/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Awantipora and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement urged people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and assured that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
