DDC Kupwara releases Evaluation Reports on SMAM, PMAY (U) & MIDH

Kupwara: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan who is also chairperson of District Level Evaluation Committee (DLEC) on Thursday released Evaluation Reports on Sub Mission on Agriculture Mechanization (SMAM) 2021-22, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY Urban) 2021-22 and Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2022-23.
The DDC released the evaluation reports in her office chamber in presence of Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Joint Director Planning, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara, Chief Horticulture Officer, Assistant Director Planning and representatives of Municipal Committees Kupwara, Handwara and Langate.
On the occasion, it was informed that under SMAM, 135 (100%) beneficiaries have been taken as samples for field verification of Machinery and Equipment provided to the farming community.
During the field operation, it was found that in order to upgrade various agriculture activities and production, Agriculture Department has provided 24 Tractors, 39 Power Tillers, 18 Power Weeder, 20 Tractor Driven Equipments, 15 Chaff Cutter, 01 each Rotovator and Power Sprayer and 04 Custom Hiring Centers. All the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude towards the better implementation of the scheme.
It was further informed that under PMAY (Urban), against 643 beneficiaries, a sample size of 194 (30%) has been taken for sample study at grass root level. During field operation it was found that these beneficiaries belong to EWS, LIG and MIG and it was observed that all the beneficiaries have applied under “new construction” component and the admissible assistance was sanctioned as well as distributed among them through DBT mode.
Under MIDH Scheme, out of total beneficiaries of 628, 30% that is 244 beneficiaries has been selected for field operation of MIDH scheme, the department has a mandate of providing Machinery and equipment, in the form of Horticulture Mechanization, Plant Protection equipment viz. weeders, motorized power sprayer, Power Tiller and vermicompost units etc.
It was observed that all the items/equipment are existing on ground. All the beneficiaries suggested that the subsidy amount is by and large sufficient and suggested that the Horticulture Department should enhance the subsidy amount from existing 50% to 75% for welfare of orchardists in the district.
