Baramulla: In celebration of the sacred and blessed month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore, in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office Sopore, organized a grand Mahfil Naat competition.
The event welcomed students from various high schools and higher secondary schools affiliated with the educational zone of Sopore. Additionally, esteemed writers, poets, social activists, and a significant number of individuals from the media community participated in this event. The Naat gathering was presided over by Principal Muhammad Ibrahim Shah of Higher Secondary School Haigam, while ZEO Sopore, Abdul Salam Dar, graced the occasion as a special guest.
The renowned writer, scholar, poet, and critic, Shabbir Ahmad Shabbir, delivered an enlightening address to the audience, emphasizing the importance of Naat and the Prophet’s biography. Principal Mushtaq Sopori while welcoming the partipants in his inaugral address described the competition as a valuable opportunity for young students to enhance their skills and prepare for future competitions. He emphasized the need of such programmes in future also to enable the young students to showcase their talents.
The students participating in the Naat competition captivated the audience with their mesmerizing voices. Exceptional performers were awarded special prizes, and all participants in the Natiya competition received recognition with the distribution of prizes. Senior Lecturer Amina Akhtar efficiently managed the proceedings as the anchor of the Natiya Mahfil.
