Mission Youth conducts Awareness Prog on Mental Health & Drug De-addiction at Amar Singh College, Srinagar

Srinagar: Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Mission Youth, J&K among other initiatives is also at the forefront of addressing critical issues concerning mental health and drug abuse among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
The unwavering support, dedication and personal involvement of Chief Executive Officer, Mission Youth has played a pivotal role in implementing the psychosocial counselling programs at the grass roots level for combating the pervasive drug abuse issues and promoting mental health well-being among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Continuing with its month-long awareness program, Mission Youth on Friday conducted a one-day Mental Health and Drug De-addiction awareness program at Amar Singh College, Srinagar.
The program began with an enlightening address by Prof. Ulfat Jan, Head of the Psychology Department at Amar Singh College. Prof. Jan stressed the importance of raising awareness, promoting prevention, and empowering individuals to tackle these pressing societal challenges effectively.
A senior consultant from Mission Youth provided an overview of the organization’s vision and mission, highlighting its significant impact on areas such as livelihood generation, education, and entrepreneurship for the youth.
Senior Consultant Mission Youth stated, “This program is designed to empower young individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to address these pressing societal challenges. The future of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth depends on their ability to thrive, and Mission Youth is committed to providing the necessary support.”
The event witnessed an impressive turnout of participants and faculty members, underlining the unwavering support and enthusiasm of the community for Mission Youth’s commendable mission.
Dr. Mehwish, an expert from IMHANS, delivered a compelling address during the program. Dr. Mehwish shed light on the substances commonly used by drug addicts, the vulnerable age groups affected, and the risk factors contributing to substance abuse. She also shared her day-to-day experiences, highlighting the critical role of awareness in safeguarding the mental health of our youth.
