Srinagar: In consonance with ongoing ‘Wildlife Week-2023’ and “’Swachhhta Hi Seva’ campaign, a ‘Cleanliness drive’ and a ‘Talk’ on importance of Wildlife was organized by the Wetlands Division of Wildlife Protection department Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday at Mirgund and Hokersar Wetland Conservation Reserves.
The main aim of the drive was to spread the swachhta message to the general public and raise awareness among students/stakeholders about cleanliness of the Hokersar and Pampore Wetlands.
Regional Director National Board for Workers Education, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Punkaj Rastogi; Rahi Riyaz chairman ASAN foundation JK; Celestial Buds HS Narbal, GMS Checki Kawoosa, Babul Reyan Public School Shalteng, Govt. High School Zainakote, Govt. High School Gund Hassibaht and field staff of Lakes Range and FPF personnel participated.
Before starting-off the event, Regional Director National Board for Workers Education briefed the students/participants about cleanliness of the wetlands.
During the drive, solid wastes were removed from different spots on the periphery of Hokersar and Mirgund Wetlands and accordingly disposed-off.
