Srinagar/Sept,30: Protests were staged in Nowgam area in the outskirts of Srinagar after an attempted braid-chopping incident.
An eye witness said that scores of protesters, mostly women, raised slogans against the police and administration for failing to nab the culprits.
He said that women took to streets after a woman, a resident of Hajam Mohalla, claimed that a masked man tried to barge inside her house.
“I raised the alarm after I saw him trying to barge inside the house,” she said.
As the news spread, people, mostly women, took to streets to protest against the incident.
Dozens of incidents across Kashmir valley during past more than a week have triggered scare among the residents, especially women.
Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incidents. Helplines have also been established across the Valley to help in nabbing the culprits.
