Earning While Learning: Exhibition, Concluding Ceremony of Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations held at GDC Ajas

Bandipora : Government Degree College Ajas Saturday marked the conclusion of a month-long Gandhi Jayanti celebration with an exhibition themed ‘Earning While Learning’.
The event showcased the exceptional talents of the students in various handicrafts including Tila Work, Zarri Work, Painting, Cutting and Tailoring, Sozni, Stone Work, Mahendi Art, and Makeup. The exhibition aimed to promote the idea of self-sufficiency and skill development, aligning with the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
The exhibition, held under the theme “Earning While Learning,” was a testament to the dedication and creativity of the students. It highlighted how students could acquire practical skills and generate income while pursuing their education.
Some noteworthy features of the exhibition included Tila Work and Zarri Work, Painting, Cutting and Tailoring, Sozni and Stone Work, Mahendi Art and Makeup, paintings, sculptures, jewellery, textiles, embroidery, knitting, cutting, Sozini Work (Shawl/Pashmina), Aari Work/Crevel, Weaving, Mirror Work, Ghana Making
Prof. (Dr.) Parveen Kousar, Principal of Government Degree College Ajas, delivered an inspiring speech during the event. She congratulated the students for their remarkable efforts in making the event a resounding success.
Dr. Kousar emphasized the significance of Gandhian values in today’s world, particularly the idea of self-reliance and skill development. She commended the students for embracing the “Earning While Learning” concept and encouraged them to continue pursuing their crafts and skills with dedication.
Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Convener of Activities, played a crucial role in orchestrating the event. Dr. Mehraj Din Dar, Dr. Rifat, and Dr. Younis served as the jury, evaluating the exhibits and awarding prizes to the most deserving participants, further motivating the students.
The “Earning While Learning” exhibition held as part of the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations was a shining example of how education and vocational skills can go hand in hand. It not only showcased the students’ talents but also encouraged them to become self-sufficient and economically empowered.
