Jammu: Two police personnel were killed while two others including a teacher were injured after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near the dam site at Chanderkot in Ramban district on Wednesday, an official said. An official said that a police van, on way from Ramban to Rajgarh, veered off road and fell into a gorge near the dam site in Chandrrkot area.
He said in the incident, a Special Police Officer (SPO) died on the spot while another policeman died during treatment, adding that two others including a teacher were injured, who have been shifted to a nearby healthcare facility.
The official identified the deceased as SPO Swami Raj and senior grade constable Parvaiz Ahmed. The injured have been identified as Joginder Singh, a teacher and Constable Sewa Singh. A case has been registered and further investigation started, official added
Meanwhile ieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the loss of lives of Police Personnel in a tragic road accident in Ramban. In a condolence message, the Lt Governor said, “Deeply pained by the loss of lives of Police personnel in a tragic road accident in Ramban. My thoughts are with the family members who lost their loved ones. Praying for the early recovery of the injured. I have instructed the authorities to provide all possible assistance required”.
