One-day CME on PMTPT held at GMC Baramulla

Baramulla : Centre For Health Research and Innovation–CHRI in collaboration with Government Medical College Baramulla and National Tuberculosis Elimination Program Baramulla organised a one day CME on PMTPT, a novel concept on management of Tuberculosis, under Project JEET- Joint Effort for Elimination of Tuberculosis.

The senior Faculty Members from GMC Baramulla, Block Medical officers, Medical officers, NTEP officials from district Baramulla and Bandipora attended the CME.

Professor Dr Ab Majid Ganai HOD Community Medicine gave a detailed talk on the scenario of global TB burden and the efforts made at national level to achieve the ambitious goal of Tuberculosis Elimination by 2025.

Dr Wasim Iqbal Assistant Professor Paediatrics GMC Baramulla gave a detailed presentation on the PMTPT with a major focus on managing the Tuberculosis in children. He discussed about the cascade of the PMTPT Program in NTEP and gave a detailed talk on the various diagnostic tools to diagnose the TBI and TPT regimens.

Dr Parvaiz Sajad Consultant Medicine in his presentation discussed about the detailed algorithm to be followed to screen the target Population before initiating on TPT. He stressed upon the participants for early diagnosis and presumption of TB patients keeping in consideration the cardinal symptoms of TB.

Dr Haffizullah Ganie District Tuberculosis officer Baramulla gave detailed presentation on NTEP operations and services being provided to TB patients and discussed about the various initiatives undertaken to achieve the target of TB free status.

Dr Zahid State Lead Project JEET discussed about the efforts being made to ensure the availability of quality diagnostic tools across the geographies of state to test more eligible population and discussed about the best practices being done in other geographies of country.

Kifayat Hussain DS- JEET gave detailed presentation about Project JEET a Global Fund Supported program to implement the PMTPT program and presented the Work done.

Team JEET facilitated the CME and provided all logistics, the event ended with felicitation of participants.
