Says “Militants detained involved in militant cases registered at Doda Police Stations decades ago”

Srinagar: State Investigation Agency (SIA), Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday arrests eight absconding militants and their associates involved in serious crimes related to militancy and disruptive activities involved in TADA cases registered around three decades ago in different Police Stations of district Doda, and charge sheeted in the TADA Court Jammu.
In a statement issued from Police Media Centre, J&K PHQ Srinagar Police said that the said absconding militants had managed to escape from the clutches of law for decades by going underground and remaining untraced for sometime and then resurfaced to enjoy normal family life at their native or some distant places, adding their in that while some of the said absconding militants had managed to get Government services and contracts, others were found engaged in private businesses and even working in the Court.
Police in it’s statement further said that besides these apprehended eight absconding militants include Adil Farooq faridi S/o Abdul Ghani Faridi R/o H No. 230 Sahidi Chowk Jammu (Government employee presently posted in JK BOSE, Jammu), Mohd. Iqbal @ Javed S/o Sikander Khan R/o Asthan Mohalla Doda, Mujahid Hussain @ Nisar Ahmed S/o Abdul Rasheed Gathwan R/o Asthan Mohalla Doda , Tariq Hussain S/o Ghulam Ali Misger R/o Barshalla Doda, Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev @ Ajaz S/o Mohd. Ayoub Dev R/o Sah Mohalla Doda, Ajaz Ahmed @ Mohd. Iqbal S/o Abdul Rehman R/o Dandi Bhaderwah, Jameel Ahmed @ Jugnu @ Chika Khan S/o Faiz Ahmed R/o Kursari Bhaderwah and Ishfaq Ahmed S/o Ghulam Ahmed Sheikh R/o Bun Doda (working as writer in Court Complex Doda).
The above referred statement issued by Police on Thursday further reads “ the above named absconding militants will be produced before the TADA / POTA court Jammu in pursuance of warrants issued against them, Police in it’s statement further said that the said absconding militants were involved in kidnapping for ransom and threat to kill one Ghulam Mohd Wani R/o of Doda on gun point (Case FIR No. 158/1992 under sections 3, 4 of TADA, 364 RPC, 3/25 Arms Act of PS Doda), kidnapping for ransom and killing of Mohd Sadiq and Tariq Hussain of Doda from their home on intervening night of 23/24 April 1993 later killed and Mohd Sadiq seriously injured (Case FIR No. 48/1993 u/s 3, 4 of TADA, 302, 307 of RPC, 3/25 Arms Act, PS Doda ), instigating people by setting false narrative during the ongoing prayer of Shabae-e-Qadir at Jamia Masjid Doda and other Masques of Doda that atrocities are committed on the innocent people of Kashmir and motivated them to observe strike in Doda on the gun point by these militants (case FIR No. 58/1991 u/s 3 and 4 of TADA, 153/194-A RPC of PS Doda), and recovery of huge cache of Arms and ammunition on 22 June 1994 concealed by these militants under the ground at Shambaz area (case FIR No. 101/1994 u/s 3, 4 of TADA, 3/25 Arms Act, PS Doda)”,
Stating that furthermore, in pursuance of it’s larger objective and mandate of achieving zero militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, Police in it’s statement further said that SIA has initiated a special drive to trace and produce before the concerned Court all absconders of militancy related cases for facing the trial under law, adding therein that SIA has so far verified and identified 369 (215-Jammu and 154-Kashmir) absconders out of 734 absconders (317 in Jammu and 417 in Kashmir) in 327 TADA/POTA cases and out of 369 verified absconders, 127 remained untraced, 80 have died and 45 are residing in Pakistan/Pak and other countries abroad and four are lodged in jail.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said that the said absconding militants had managed to escape from the law and live normal life at their native place without being traced for so long , Police in it’s statement said that other aspects of larger criminal conspiracy and nexus thereof and role of insiders if any will also be investigated by the SIA.
