Jammu: Police on Thursday said that it has achieved major success by recovering 17 grams of heroin from an accused in Akhnoor area of Jammu city under the jurisdiction of Police Station Akhnoor.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that a police team of Police Station Akhnoor led by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma assisted by SHO Police Station Akhnoor Inspr. Zaheer Mushtaq while on patrolling duty reached at Old bridge rounded up one person who was coming from Old bridge towards Chandian TRC and during search , 17 grams of heroin was recovered from him.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered the a case vide FIR No. 247/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act in PS Akhnoor and accused identified as Mohd Manshu @ Manshu S/o Mohd Yousaf R/o Bathroom Gajansu Tehsil Marh District Jammu was later arrested following which further investigation was initiated into the case, Police in it’s statement further said that it has been working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that it has been striving hard by taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace. Police on this occasion appealed people of the area to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption on 9086100100 or 100 with Police for the cause.
