ICAR- Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture celebrates National Sports Day

Srinagar: The ICAR- Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture celebrated National Sports Day from 23rd to 29th August 2023 at its premises located at Old Air Field, Rangreth, Srinagar (J&K) to inculcate the sportsmanship in everyone and making life healthy and happy to improve the output at work place.
On the occasion, several activities were organized for men and women like race, badminton, carrom, chess, volleyball, cricket and tug of war.
Winners were complimented with medals, trophies and certificates. The function was graced by the chief guest Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal, Director, Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Kashmir and guest of honour, Majid Dhar, In-charge J&K Cricket Association, Srinagar (J&K).
Both the guests emphasized the benefits of the sports in daily life of the people and for maintaining sound health and physique. They stressed for improvement in the sports standards among the players through creation of sports facilities and institutional support.
The Director, ICAR-CITH, Srinagar, Dr. M. K. Verma presided over the function and also motivated the employees to play and work for a healthy life and improve the happiness index under stressful life in Kashmir conditions.
He apprised the officers/ officials of ICAR-CITH, Srinagar that participation in sports is useful for physical and mental health. He urged all the employees to take part in different indoor/ outdoor sports on a regular basis.
