Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested four persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized four vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz led by SHO Police Station Pattan, seized two tractors and arrested their drivers identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie S/o Ab Salam and Javid Ahmad Sheikh S/o Gh Mohiuddin, both residents of Mehmoodpora Pattan for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Mehmoodpora Pattan.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar action, the Police under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed assisted by SHO Police Station Kunzer, seized two vehicles (tipper & tractor) and arrested their drivers identified as Firdous Ahmad Malla S/o Ab Rehman R/o Hardu Aboora & Rameez Ahmad Shah S/o Ab Raheem R/o Batpora Kunzer for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Batpora Kunzer.
Stating that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
