Jammu: As part of National Sports Week Celebrations, all District Youth Services & Sports Officers have intensified sports activities across the division.
It is worth mentioning here that National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th August every year, the Birth Day of Hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand to include deep rooted tradition of sports. A week long programme calendar of different sports activities has been circulated to all the District, Youth Services & Sports Officers by the Joint Director, Youth Services & Sports, Jammu under the theme “Sports as an enabler for an inclusive and fit society” The event includes Yoga, Chess, Carrom, Lemon Race, Rope Skipping & Tug of War etc.
Joint Director, Youth Services & Sports, Jammu, Suram Chand Sharma reiterated the resolve of the present government, in promoting sports culture in the J&K by extending sports facilities at every nook and corner of the J&K, enabling youth to prove their talent in games and sports besides channelizing their energy for the betterment of the society.
Meanwhile, the Senior Citizen Day, 2023 by celebrated by Department of Youth Services & Sports by organizing sports events for senior citizens in all districts which attracted overwhelming response and applause from the senior citizens.
