Jammu : The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm in the premises of State Motor Garages. Deputy Director of State Motor Garages, Jammu Province, Shakeel Ahmed Khan unfurled the tricolour national flag. He was accompanied by P K Bhat (AO), Mr. Qazi Naveed (Works Manager), Davinder Singh & Anju Sharma (SO Admn.), Peter Gill (SO Transport), Darshan Kumar, Shishu Pal, Jagpreet Singh and all in unison sang the melodious strains of the National Anthem which charged up the atmosphere with patriotic spirit.
Addressing the august gathering Deputy Director of State Motor Garages, Jammu Province Khan highlighted the significance of the day which brings the whole country together in its embedded diversity and reiterated that it is our moral duty to maintain peace and integrity of the nation at all cost. The celebrations of this auspicious day began most majestically with great respect and enthusiasm. Former Employee of State Motor Motor Garages, Jammu who is also an Urdu and Dogri writer, Abdul Qadir Kundria graced the occasion. The significant occasion was also celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at all the sub offices of State Motor Garages of Jammu Province. The celebrations were coordinated and organised by the Joint Welfare Drivers and Workers Committee of SMG. They include Ganpat Singh (Chairman), R. S. Rathore, Ravi Kumar, Puran Chand and other committee members.
